The Story of CoHost

There is nothing more frustrating than feeling that you are fighting an uphill battle when creating videos and trying to become the next breakout star. You have read thousands of articles and watched hundreds of tutorial videos but still don’t feel any closer to earning that elusive play button. Trust us, we know.

We have been creating videos for both YouTube and Google Video (remember when that was a thing?) for the last 10 years, refining our craft and building multiple online series. In that time we have experienced many changes and learnt a lot about marketing, video creation and how to run an online business. One of the biggest changes was YouTube becoming mainstream, with new YouTube celebrities being created daily, while there was no real community for the smaller creators.

This led us to think of different ways we can help YouTubers of all sizes develop their channels. CoHost has taken many forms over the last 5 years as we have been developing the concept. What started as a simple community channel where people could upload 30 second trailers of their channel has turned into what you know today as CoHost.

The current website has been in development for over a year and we are just getting started. Our aim is to keep CoHost evolving using feedback from the community, this will allow us to build upon the initial feature set with new ideas and tools. So far we have a lot of plans for the first 12 months after launch, but if you need something that isn’t currently available, or if you have any ideas of tools that should exist (but don’t), then let us know about it!

We want to provide an independent website for users to find other creators, voice their concerns about YouTube and learn more about running a channel as a business. This gives us the ability to provide impartial reviews of MCNs & software along with an area to discuss YouTube and Google updates without bowing to pressures from investors or advertisers. We aren’t in the business of creating click-bait, just good-quality impartial information.

The #smalltubers movement has been gaining traction over the last few years and we know how difficult it is to get a channel off the ground. It’s also a common complaint that YouTube’s algorithm constantly promotes the same creators, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stand out against the noise. CoHost has been built with this in mind; there are many ways you can be discovered through our platform (no algorithms promoting only the popular people on this site) and we will be developing more features over time based on feedback.

This is the beginning of a very exciting journey for us all, we hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are.
