How To Set Up A YouTube Remarketing Campaign in Adwords

To set up a new Remarketing Campaign:

  • Firstly, ensure your YouTube and AdWords accounts are linked
  • Log in to your Google AdWords account
  • Select the Campaigns tab
  • Click +Campaign
  • From the dropdown, select Video Campaign
  • Enter a campaign name
  • Keep type as Video
  • Input a daily Budget
  • Under Networks, choose if you would like your video ad to be displayed across the entire display network, YouTube Search or YouTube Videos (Or a combination of all three)
  • Select the Locations you want to remarket to. This is global by default, but can be refined to specific countries as required.
  • Select the Language of your customers
  • Choose which Devices your ads should be shown across (Mobile, Desktop and Tablet). All are selected by default.
  • Under Advanced Settings you have the option of editing advert scheduling and delivery methods
  • Click Save and Continue
  • Enter a name for your ad group
  • Paste the URL for your video advert
  • Enter a maximum cost per view
  • Under the Targeting header, open the Narrow Your Targeting dropdown
  • Select Remarketing
  • Choose the remarketing lists you wish to target (There are several drop down options to select between remarketing list types) and click Done
  • Click Save Ad Group

To add Remarketing to an existing ad group:

  • Firstly, ensure your YouTube and AdWords accounts are linked
  • Log in to your Google AdWords account
  • Select the Campaigns tab
  • Click on the required campaign
  • Select the Video Targeting tab
  • Click Remarketing
  • Click +Remarketing
  • Under Select An Ad Group click Choose
  • Select the desired ad group
  • Choose an existing remarketing list (or multiple lists)
  • Click Save

You must have at least 100 people on a remarketing list for it to qualify for use.
